TOOELE COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 5, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The body of missing West Bountiful man John Page has been found in Tooele County, according to a post on the missing man’s Facebook page.

The text follows:

At 9:10 a.m., our family was notified that a search team found Johnny’s body

We are forever grateful for all of the thoughts and prayers on behalf of Johnny and our family. Our family has been overwhelmed with the amount of people searching for him. We can not thank everyone enough for sacrificing their time and resources in helping us bring our dad home.

Patrol Officer Ron Johnson, Tooele County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed the news to Gephardt Daily.

Page’s body was found by family acquaintances who traveled on horseback and searched using dogs, Johnson said. It was located in the Lakeside Mountains, on the southwest side of the Great Salt Lake.

Page’s remains were found on a rocky slope about 1.5 to 2 miles southwest of where his car had been found by searchers days earlier, Johnson said.

Page, 74, was last seen on July 24 at a Maverik station at 1265 W. Parrish Lane, in Centerville.

A West Bountiful Police Department news release said cell phone information led law enforcement to the Tooele and Box Elder County area where an extensive search took place. The formal search for Page was called off last Sunday.

According to the Saturday Facebook post, Page’s family gathered in Tooele County for a private service.

We have seen small miracles and tender mercies along this journey. We are indebted to our Heavenly Father for his grace in helping us through this trial. Our family was gathered this morning for a small memorial at the site where Johnny went missing. With the exception of Johnny’s sweet granddaughter Amberlee, who just had a baby, we were all together for the first time as a family since the search started.

We cannot imagine how difficult this news would have been had we not been together. We are so thankful for the closure that the events of this morning brought our family. We know that our Grandpa Johnny has been reunited with his wife and is at peace. We loved him so much and are comforted in our knowledge of forever families. Memorial services are being discussed.

  1. While I had hoped for a happier ending, at least the family has closure. I cannot imagine the pain of never finding a loved one. Sending love and comfort to his friends and family.
