SPANISH FORK, Utah March 16, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol has identified the victim in a pickup truck-semi collision near Spanish Fork Friday morning.

Fifty-year-old Kevin R. Miller, of Payson, died at the scene.

Miller was driving north on Interstate 15 at about 5:43 a.m., near mile marker 253, when he lost control of his pickup. It rolled across the median and over a dividing cable, into southbound traffic, according to Lt. Todd Royce, Utah Highway Patrol.

Miller’s Ford Ranger came to rest in the center southbound lane, and was hit broadside by the semi, which was traveling south at normal highway speeds, Royce said. The smaller truck was crushed.

“A southbound semi did not see the truck in time and struck it broadside, pushing it back to the south,” a UHP report says. “The driver of the pickup sustained fatal injuries. The semi driver sustained minor injuries.”

The semi driver was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Southbound lanes of I-15 were closed for about three hours, during morning rush hour.
