WEST JORDAN, Utah, March 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — West Jordan Police took one juvenile into custody early Friday after four people in a stolen car fled police and ran into a tree.

The incident happened at about 2 a.m. near 8800 S. 1850 West.

“We had a stolen vehicle,” officer Jennifer Worthen, WJPD, said at the scene. “We did not pursue.”

The officer identified the car as stolen by running its plates, Worthen said. Officials were trying to get more officers to the area when the driver spotted the police car and sped away.

“(The stolen car) hit up against a tree, then the suspects fled from there.”

Worthen said police had some information on two at-large suspects, but little on the third. She said if people in the area could check surveillance footage, it would be a help to police.

Worthen said the female in custody said she did not know the car was stolen.
