An investigation into the death is ongoing, but Brandon Corey Weaver, 37, was booked on drug- and theft-related charges.

Weaver was booked for investigation of:

The investigation began Wednesday when the dead woman’s employer called requesting a welfare check on the woman, who had not shown up for work. Clinton police knocked on the door, but no one answered.

Later, when family members went to the house, Weaver did answer. They notified police after finding the body.

According to booking documents, a gun was found near the woman’s body, and Weaver told police that on Monday night, he argued with his wife, then heard what sounded like a gunshot coming from the basement, but did not go downstairs.

Law enforcement officials said the death was not currently considered suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing.

According to legal documents, meth and spice were found at the residence, and a motorcycle and car located outside had been reported as stolen.
