MIDVALE, Utah, Jan. 23, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Fire Authority crews are at the scene of a two-alarm fire at 232 E. Carol Way in Midvale.

UFA Capt. Dominic Burchett said firefighters arrived a little before 9 p.m. to find heavy smoke and flames at the residence, which is in a duplex.

Crews were still working at 10 p.m. to knock down the blaze and were fighting it defensively.

Burchett said they initially tried to send crews inside, but it proved too dangerous, so they’re working from outside the structure, spraying water in through the windows and doors.

He said there are no reports of injuries.

It’s too early to estimate the extent of damages to the home. Burchett said that once it’s safe to go inside, crews will do “salvage and overhaul,” but for now safety is the first priority for the public and for the firefighters.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
