CHICAGO, March 11 (UPI) — Makers of Corona Extra beer announced a recall this week after small particles of glass were found in some bottles.

The recall affects only Corona Extra sold in the United States and Guam in 12-ounce glass bottles, and in 12-packs and 18-packs, Constellation Brands Beer Division said. It added the recall is voluntary, involves less than one-tenth of one percent of Corona product and no complaints have been received or injuries reported.

The incidence of glass in bottles was discovered after routine safety inspections at two breweries which produce the beer on an interim basis, Constellation Brands said.

Customers are asked to check production codes on bottles and wrappers. On 12-packs, the affected bottles have a last digit of 4 and the first four characters between A016 through B246, or L285 through L315. On 18-packs, the affected bottles have a last digit of 8 and the first four characters between A216 through B226.

All recalled products will be removed from the markets, Constellation Brands said, and customers who purchased suspect bottles should call 1-866-204-9407.
