Google’s Gmail Officially Releases Undo Send Feature for Emails
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 24 (UPI) — Google announced on Tuesday that the undo send feature for emails, previously experimental, has now been made part of Gmail’s standard feature set and has gained a prominent spot on the settings page.
Although the ability to unsend emails has been present in the popular email client for years, it has always been a part of its Google Labs experimental features. Users will no longer need to search the obscure section of Gmail’s settings.
To enable it, the user must first reload the client and then go to the settings page through the gear icon in the top right corner. The undo send feature is found towards the bottom of the page, and it prompts the user to select a cancellation period for undos. Essentially, Google’s feature will delay the sending of an email by 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds during which the user may undo the sending.
The undo command will pop up in the confirmation box that appears at the top of the screen after sending an email, next to “you sent this message.” This box, which goes away after clicking on any other part of the client, is the only way the user can undo the send.
At the moment, the option does not exist in the Android or iOS versions of the client.
