June 28 (UPI) — “How I Met Your Mother” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum Alyson Hannigan has signed on as a recurring guest star for Season 2 of the Mennonite crime drama “Pure.”

The actress will begin filming in July her role of Esther Dunkel, “a lapsed Mennonite who is nobody’s fool and has been helping her lawyer-boyfriend funnel a fortune in cartel cash through a local bank,” WGN America said in a news release Wednesday.

The show stars Ryan Robbins and Alex Paxton-Beesley as Noah and Anna Funk, a pastor and his wife trying to rid their community of drugs and the crimes related to them. Also joining the cast for Season 2 are Chris Heyerdahl, Zoie Palmer and Victor Gomez.

Season 1 of “Pure” is slated to premiere on the cable network in early 2019.

Hannigan was also recently cast in the Disney Channel movie “Kim Possible.”
