Feb. 16 (UPI) — Season 7 of “American Horror Story” will tackle the 2016 presidential election, co-creator Ryan Murphy announced.
“I don’t have a title but the season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through,” Murphy revealed Wednesday on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.”
“So I think that will be interesting for a lot of people,” he continued.
When asked if there would be a character based on President Donald Trump, Murphy responded “Maybe.”
FX, which carries “American Horror Story,” renewed the anthology series through Season 9 in January. In October, the network announced Season 7 would air in 2017.
Series mainstays Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have been confirmed to return.
FX CEO John Landgraf, while speaking with Entertainment Weekly at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in January, said Season 7 would be “shrouded in super secrecy” until its premiere, much like Season 6.
“Ryan has yet another really innovative idea for how to do something fresh and different with the franchise that audiences haven’t seen before, and there’s a marketing promotional hook around that,” he said at the time.
