The film had its world premiere on November 11, 2014 at American Film Institute Festival and will be theatrically released in the United States on January 16, 2015. Based on the real life of Chris Kyle, the film depicts Kyle’s tour of duty in Iraq and his struggles to be a good father and husband despite his deployment.

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission — protect his comrades — to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents. Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq. However, when he finally returns home, he finds that he cannot leave the war behind.

Peter Travers of Rolling Stone gave the film three and a half stars out of four, saying “Bradley Cooper, as Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, and director Eastwood salute Kyle’s patriotism best by not denying its toll. Their targets are clearly in sight, and their aim is true.”

The movie was directed by Clint Eastwood and written by Jason Hall and Chris Kyle who wrote one of the books that this movie was made from.
