LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 (UPI) — Bella Thorne hopes her Playboy debut will encourage fans to be confident.
The 19-year-old actress shared a body-positive message while showing her sexy side in the magazine’s November issue.
“People like to comment on how my image is too edgy, that I’m too edgy, and on how they wish I looked. It’s a lot of ‘do this, don’t do that.’ To them, I say [expletive] off,” Thorne said.
“There’s this effort to try to shame a woman’s sexiness by pulling a cover over it, but I’m a woman who loves skin,” she revealed. “I love skin on me, I love skin on girls, I love skin on guys. If you’re confident enough to show off your body, you should. Be confident.”
“It can be difficult to get yourself to focus on you all the time, especially when you’re trying to transition into who you really are, but I’m not going to change for anybody else. I love staying true to me,” the star added.
Thorne had said in an interview with Maxim this month that she’s faced backlash since coming out as bisexual in August. The star said she didn’t think twice about going public with her sexuality because she considers herself “super open.”
“It is hard in this business for us. It really is. I have already had people talk [expletive] to me. And it comes from people in the industry, not even fans. I’ve had studios tell me my image is too ‘out there,’ hinting at it but not really saying it,” she revealed.
“People tell me all the time about my social media and my Snapchat, but I’m not going to change myself for this business, and I’m not going to change myself for anyone else,” the actress asserted.
Thorne is known for playing CeCe Jones on the Disney Channel series “Shake It Up” and has since appeared on “CSI,” “K.C. Undercover” and “Scream.” She will portray Paige Townsen on the new Freeform series “Famous in Love.”
