Bruce Jenner Puts Arms Around Two Ex-wives in New Photo
LOS ANGELES, April 30 (UPI) — Linda Thompson shared a photo Wednesday of herself with ex-husband Bruce Jenner and another one of his ex-wives, Christie Scott. In it, Jenner hangs his arms warmly around both women’s shoulders.
Thompson and Scott may be an unlikely duo, but they are allegedly among Jenner’s biggest supporters after he revealed his true gender identity in Friday’s 20/20interview with Diane Sawyer.
Thompson, who was married to the Olympic athlete from 1981 to 1984, published an excerpt from her memoir about her relationship with Jenner, 65, to Huffington Post. She wrote that he unveiled his gender dysphoria early in their marriage:
Not understanding exactly what he meant, I questioned him. “What do you mean you identify as a woman?” I asked. “What does that mean?” He replied that it meant that for as long as he could remember, he had looked in the mirror and seen a masculine image staring back at him where there should have been a feminine reflection.
Thompson said she would have taken his secret to the grave out of respect had Jenner never disclosed it. In the passage, she shows immense support for her ex-husband, insisting that he had already “gone through the fire,” and suffered “unfathomable discomfort and pain.”
“It is certainly not our place to judge him or others who may feel trapped, ostracized, or alone,” she said.
Jenner’s first wife, Christie Scott has also spoken candidly about her support of Jenner. In an interview on ABC’s Nightline, his wife between 1972 to 1981 admitted that she found out about Jenner’s secret during their first year of marriage.
“It didn’t threaten our marriage,” she said.
Both women are supportive of Bruce Jenner’s transition. Per Jenner’s request, male pronouns will be used to refer to the Keeping Up With the Kardashians personality until further notice.
