LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) — Captain America and his Avengers teammates Falcon and Scarlet Witch are seen fighting side-by-side in the latest preview for “Captain America: Civil War.”
The new footage for the upcoming superhero epic was debuted Sunday by star Chris Evans during “MTV’s Movie Awards.”
Captain America is seen in the clip handily taking out a group of henchmen with his signature shield and super solider abilities as he calls on Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) for help.
The trio then display impressive teamwork skills as they combine each of their unique superhuman skills in order to get the job done.
“Civil War” which opens in theaters May 6, follows the story of Captain America/Steve Rogers as he protects his best friend Winter Solider/Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) from the government, which believes he is a dangerous criminal. This leads to a dispute between Captain America and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) over the government’s role in regulating super-powered beings and forces the rest of Marvel’s cast of heroes to take up arms and choose a side.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, the superhero showdown also stars Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Paul Bettany (Vision) as part of team Iron Man and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Solider), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) for team Captain America.
