March 14 (UPI) — Actor and comedian Dax Shepard says he accidentally taught his elder daughter to curse.

The 42-year-old CHiPs director and star admitted on Tuesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that Lincoln, his 3-year-old with wife Kristen Bell, picked up a choice swear word after hearing him use it in the house.

“[My daughters] have a bookshelf,” Shepard explained of an injury last year. “I bend down, wham, straight into the bridge of my nose, hardest I’ve ever been hit. Almost blacked out. I let a couple [expletives] rip.”

“Two days later, Kristen’s walking down the hallway and Lincoln’s in her room trying to get a sweatshirt off. Her arms are all bound up in it — she’s getting frustrated — and she goes, ‘Oh, [expletive]!'” he said. “About five hours later, we’re at a pool party. She’s in the pool and she goes, ‘This pool is [expletive] warm!'”

“Now we’re like, ‘We’re going to ignore it a second time?'” the star recalled. “Side note, we were like, ‘She’s nailing the syntax. She knows that she’s using it as an adjective, an adverb.’ We were proud and she stopped saying it.”

Shepard told DeGeneres the cut he got in the bookshelf incident went “down to the bone.” He had shared a photo on Instagram of his injured nose in April 2016.

“You think slamming the bridge of the nose into daughter’s bookshelf in her pitch black room will slow this #dadbeast down? Think again,” he wrote at the time.

Shepard and Bell, who married in 2013, are also parents to 2-year-old daughter Delta. The couple will both appear in the new movie “CHiPs,” which co-stars Michael Pena and opens in theaters March 24.
