Disney Is Building “Star Wars” Lands At Its Anaheim And Orlando Theme Parks

ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 16 (UPI) — “Star Wars”-themed districts are to be built at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., and Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.

“I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and ‘Star Wars’,” Walt Disney Company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger announced Saturday. “Through each new attraction and new land we create, we push the boundaries of what is possible. And as you can imagine, with Star Wars, we are taking that to a whole new level, with a whole galaxy to explore.”

Each new “Star Wars”-themed land will transform 14 acres into a remote planet and trading port.

The districts will feature two signature attractions, including one that allows fans to board the Millennium Falcon spaceship, as well as a “Star Wars” adventure that lands guests in the middle of a battle.

The announcement comes as Disney prepares to release “The Force Awakens”, the seventh installment in the “Star Wars” space saga, this December.
