SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 22, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — An army of murderous, apocalyptic, flesh-eating zombies will invade downtown Salt Lake City later this week and thousands of people couldn’t be happier.

In fact, they’re paying good money to be a part of it.

It’s all part of the “The Walking Dead Experience” – a featured event at Salt Lake Comic Con’s FanXperience 2016 – which runs at the Salt Palace Convention Center March 24-26.

“This is the best set of guests and attractions we’ve had yet for fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ and other zombie shows,” said Dan Farr, Salt Lake Comic Con founder and producer. “We’ve booked Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, and Michael Traynor from AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead,’” five principle cast members from Syfy’s “Z Nation” and three principle cast members from the upcoming zombie film on Syfy, “Dead7.” We couldn’t be more thrilled to add this realtime sensory experience to FanX 2016.”

“The Walking Dead Experience” is being presented by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. It’s being produced and created Michael Counts and Walker Stalker.

Insiders say those who take part will soon experience first-hand the all-too-real terror of a zombie outbreak just as it is portrayed in wildly popular “The Walking Dead” comic book series.

The production’s not-so-simple goal is to immerse fans in the chaotic and terrifying world of “The Walking Dead” where small groups will try to make through a small town at start of a zombie outbreak.

Those taking part will be immersed in a theatrical world of state of the art special effects, professional performers, and elaborate sets,” said Walker Stalker president James Frazier. “We’re excited to have Salt Lake Comic Con as our first comic con partner for the Experience in 2016.”

Attendees can choose to play as “survivors” or “walkers,” with run times ranging from 30 to 90 minutes, and include options like professionally applied zombie makeup.

“Salt Lake Comic Con has a substantial zombie theme, along with ‘Doctor Who,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Star Trek,’ ‘X-Files,’ Buzz Aldrin and more at FanX 2016,” said Bryan Brandenburg, Salt Lake Comic Con co-founder and chief marketing officer.

“We have some of the top guests from ‘The Walking Dead’ and ‘The Walking Dead Experience’ is a substantial addition to complement our show.”

“The Walking Dead Experience” tickets range from $40 – $140 and are available now.

Attendees must have a valid FanX 2016 wristband to participate.

FanX 2016 passes range from $20 – $230, with 15 percent discounts available for military, first responders, teachers, students and seniors.

FanX is produced by the same team behind Salt Lake Comic Con, which became one of the premier pop culture comic con events in the country and the most attended convention in the history of Utah with over 125,000 attendees.

Additional FanX 2016 guests include Kate Beckinsale, Gillian Anderson, Matt Smith, Buzz Aldrin, George Takei, LeVar Burton, Summer Glau, Jason Isaacs, Peter Facinelli and members of the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. Check the full guest list here.
