‘Firefly’ and ‘Barney Miller’ star Ron Glass dies at 71

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 26 (UPI) — Ron Glass, a beloved actor known for his work on the TV shows “Barney Miller” and “Firefly,” has died. He was 71.

Variety confirmed Saturday the star’s death, but said it had no details regarding where it happened or what caused it.

The Indiana native also counted among his dozens of screen credits episodes of the classic series “Sanford and Son,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “All in the Family,” “The New Odd Couple,” “The Twilight Zone,” “Family Matters” and “Murder, She Wrote.”

Glass’ Firefly co-star Alan Tudyk took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late actor.

“Ron Glass was one of the greatest actors to work with. His laugh was beyond infectious and his generosity was ever present,” Tudyk tweeted.

“Ron Glass was also a sassy smart ass and I prize that very much. A leaf on the wind,” he added.
