LONDON, Nov. 8 (UPI) — Gary Oldman is set to star as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the upcoming film “Darkest Hour,” directed by Joe Wright.

The movie focuses on Churchill’s confrontation with Nazi forces and his “attempt to change the course of world history.”

Oldman has signed on to star as Churchill, along with Stephen Dillane, whose involvement was recently announced, as well as John Hurt, Lily James, Ben Mendelsohn, and Kristin Scott Thomas.

The film uses extensive prosthetics to transform Oldman into Churchill, with two-time Academy Award nominee Kazuhiro Tsuji at the helm.

Academy Award nominated “The Theory of Everything” writer Anthony McCarten wrote the script for the biopic, which is set to premiere on Nov. 24, 2017.
