LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1 (UPI) — Author George R.R. Martin says reports pinning him to mentions of a Game of Thrones movie are “completely false.”

The successful New Jersey-born writer denounced the rumor on his blog Tuesday after a Daily Star article quoted him as saying the film was in the works although he would have no part in it. An anonymous source told the Star the feature would possibly cover the uprising of character Robert Baratheon against the Mad King Aerys Targaryen.

“Yes, completely false. No one is working on any movie just now,” Martin wrote in response to a fan’s question about the rumor. “And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert’s Rebellion.”

The rumor’s originating article quoted the author, who is currently writing the last of the Game of Thrones novels, as saying HBO and D.B. Weiss were taking authority over the film because he had “too much to do.”

“I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do,” the Star claimed Martin said. “The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don’t write faster.”

Huffington Post reports a rep for Martin called the quotes obtained by Star “not direct quotes.” A statement sent by Martin to the outlet read, “There’s been talk about it…I’d love to see one, but nothing is decided.”
