John Williams Not On Board For New “Star Wars” Movie

John WillimasJohn Williams will not be composing the music for the new “Star Wars” film, “Rogue One.”

The job has been assigned to Oscar-winning French composer Alexandre Desplat. Desplat recently won an Oscar for his work on the movie “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” The composer will be working once again with Gareth Edwards to score the upcoming spinoff film “Star Wars: Rogue One”.

Desplat collaborated with Edwards on the 2014 blockbuster “Godzilla.”
The move to hire Desplat marks a major change for the Star Wars production company Lucasfilm, which has traditionally worked with John Williams.

Williams has scored all but one of the films in the Star Wars legacy.
“Star Wars: Rogue One” is scheduled for release on December 16, 2016 by Walt Disney Pictures.
