Rainn Wilson to play con-man Harry Mudd on ‘Star Trek: Discovery’

April 1 (UPI) — “The Office” alum Rainn Wilson has landed a role in the sci-fi series “Star Trek: Discovery.”

Wilson, 51, will play Harry Mudd, “the charismatic con-man and intergalactic criminal first introduced in the original “Star Trek” television series,” CBS All Access announced Friday. The character was originally played by Roger C. Carmel.

“Discovery” will premiere on the CBS Television Network with subsequent episodes available on CBS All Access, the network’s digital, subscription, video-on-demand and live-streaming service.

Its cast will also include Jason Isaacs, Mary Wiseman, Sonequa Martin-Green, James Frain, Anthony Rapp and Doug Jones.
