LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17 (UPI) — The rapper Coolio and another man were arrested on gun charges at LAX on Saturday after allegedly trying to sneak a loaded stolen gun through security.

Airport police said an unidentified 39-year-old man was stopped at a security checkpoint after Transportation Security Administration screeners detected the presence of a firearm in his carry-on bag. Police stopped the individual while allowing Coolio to proceed to his flight. Later, police determined items in the bag belonged to Coolio and took him off his flight for questioning.

Police determined other items in the carry-on belonged to Coolio, 53, whose legal name is Artis Leon Ivey.

The Los Angeles Police Department booked the Grammy-winning “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper and his companion on charges of possession of a loaded stolen firearm.

Bail was set at $37,308.
