LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 (UPI) — New York real estate heir and accused killer Robert Durst was extradited to California where he will stand trial for the murder of longtime friend Susan Berman.

Durst, 73, was booked into the Los Angeles jail at 1:20 p.m. on Friday and will be arraigned Monday in the 2000 death of Berman. Durst was transferred from a Louisiana prison where he is serving time on a federal weapons charge. He has also been implicated in the 1982 disappearance of his first wife, Kathleen, and the 2001 dismemberment of a neighbor, Morris Black.

“Bob Durst didn’t kill Susan Berman and he doesn’t know who did,” Durst’s attorney, Dick DeGuerin, said. “He’s eager to get to trial to prove it.”

Durst gained national attention in 2015 after he was featured in the HBO documentary series “The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst.” During the filming, he was heard saying, “There it is. You’re caught. What the hell do I do? Killed them all, of course.”

Durst’s family runs 1 World Trade Center in New York City. He is estimated to be worth $65 million.
