LOS ANGELES, June 5 (UPI) — Fitness guru Richard Simmons has confirmed he was briefly hospitalized during the weekend, but said Sunday he is now “feeling great.”

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and concern after hearing I was in the hospital. I was dehydrated and needed some fluids and now I am feeling great!” Simmons told Us Weekly. “Summer is here — drink plenty of liquids. Big hugs and kisses for caring.”

Simmons was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles late Friday after he was reportedly exhibiting erratic behavior.

TMZ reported the 67-year-old television personality’s longtime caretaker called 911 from his Hollywood Hills home after becoming alarmed by Simmons’ demeanor.

The celebrity news website said Simmons has not been seen in public since 2013. He has insisted in the past that he is fine and is simply taking a break from the spotlight.
