PIEDMONT, Ala., Sept. 9 (UPI) — Taylor Swift donated $5,000 to help cover the funeral expenses of Katie Beth Carter, a fan who was killed in a car accident in Alabama over Labor Day weekend.

Swift made the donation on the GoFundMe page created to help cover the medical expenses and funeral costs for the 18-year-old marching ballerina at Jacksonville State University.

“No words could express how sorry I am for your loss,” Swift wrote on the page. “I know that you will keep Katie’s memory alive. Please know how much I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for your family. All my love, Taylor.”

Carter was killed when a tractor-trailer struck her Honda Accord as she was traveling back to school after spending the holiday weekend with family. She was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Georgia where she was pronounced dead.

Swift also donated to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center recently after her godson (and son of actress Jaime King), Leo Thames, was treated there for a congenital heart condition.
