3 Salt Lake County eateries closed for issues including filth, mouse droppings

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 19, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Three Salt Lake County eateries have been closed by the health department for violations ranging from dirty door handles to excessive spider webs and rodent droppings.

Taco Bell, at 1287 E. Draper Parkway, Draper, was closed for 18 rule violations, which included:

  • Prepped food not marked with dates
  • Dirty floors, walls, ceilings and shelves
  • No hot water in the facility
  • Syrup lines for drinks resting on the floor
  • And a floor missing some grout

Zaika Grill n Kebab, at 3540 S. State St., Salt Lake City, was closed for 31 violations, which included:

  • Sink and floor drains that failed to drain
  • Raw chicken stored above ready-to-eat foods in a cooler
  • Raw lamb and chicken kept on a counter
  • Visibly dirty food prep tables and cutting boards
  • Food being stored on the floor
  • Pesticide for exterior use stored in ware washing area

And Fuji Japanese Steak House & Sushi, 10849 S. State St., Sandy, was closed for more than three dozen violations, more than 20 of them categorized as critical, which included:

  • Mouse droppings
  • Multiple hand sinks lacking soap and paper towel, and one lacking hot water
  • Butane stored by food
  • Many large spider webs
  • Food being stored in non-food-grade containers
  • Raw meat stored above ready-to-eat foods in the cooler
  • Food stored on the floor of the cooler
  • Personal items stored on food
  • A dirty grill and rice scoop
  • General filth in the facility
