March 21 (UPI) — A North Carolina doctor who makes sex ed rap videos for kids is setting her sights on a subject with an older demographic: STD prevention for senior citizens.

Dr. Shannon Dowler, aka RapDktaD, adapted her hip hop education routine to skew a bit older for her latest YouTube video, titled “STD’s Never Get Old.”

The video, which features a chorus of “Safe sex, baby,” bears the unmistakable musical influence of Vanilla Ice’s “Ice, Ice, Baby,” and reaches similar heights of camp.

“Yo, RapDktaD in the house, let’s kick it,” Dowler raps. “Stop. Collaborate and listen, RapDktaD’s intention, calling out all you fellas and ladies, STD’s are tearing through folks in their 80s.”

The doctor said sexually transmitted infections have nearly doubled during the past 10 years.

“It’s tough, to tell a 72-year-old that they’re having their first herpes outbreak,” Dowler told WLOS-TV. “If they’ve lost their partner, they’re suddenly developing a new relationship, and there’s a whole slew of STD’s they’ve never heard about.”

Dowler said her video has been chosen to be shown by the state director of STD service at a conference next month.
