UINTAH COUNTY, Utah, June 25, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 13-year-old boy from White Rocks, Utah, rolled a pickup truck on State Route 40 Sunday morning, after his aunt asked him to drive it from Vernal to Fort Duchesne.

According to a news release from the Utah Department of Public Safety, the juvenile’s aunt, Sweets Myore, 35, of Fort Duchesne, asked him to follow her to her house as she led the way in a second vehicle.

At about 9:45 a.m. near milepost 139, the boy, who was unlicensed and inexperienced, drifted off the roadway to the right, then over-corrected to the left, causing the Ford F-150 to swerve back onto the road and slide off the left side, the release states. The truck rolled twice and landed on its wheels.

The boy was wearing his seat belt and remained in the pickup. Medical units responded and took him to a local hospital as a precaution. He had no visible injuries.

Charges are being screened through the Uintah County Attorney’s Office.
