16-year-olds charged with murder in Ogden woman’s shooting death

OGDEN, Utah, Aug. 15, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two 16-year-old boys have been arrested for murder after the death of an Ogden woman hit by one of multiple bullets shot at the outside of her home as she slept inside.

Maria Sanchez, 47, was transported from the residence, in the 300 block of 28th Street, early on Sunday morning. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and died there on Monday.

Three teenagers were originally questioned in the case, but one was released. The other two were booked on first degree murder charges, a tweet from the Ogden Police Department said.

Ogden officials are discussing the possibility of charging the boys as adults, according to an OPD source.
