BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Feb. 17, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were flown to hospitals in Ogden on Saturday afternoon following a crash on State Route 89 in the South Willard area.

According to a Utah Highway Patrol news release, the accident happened at about 3:30 p.m., when a gold Mazda Protege was heading east on 8700 South.

The driver, a 21-year-old woman, who is in her first trimester of pregnancy, stopped at a stop sign, and then pulled out in front of a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was southbound on SR 89, the release states.

When the pickup hit the Mazda on the driver’s side door, the car spun off the road to the right.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.

The driver of the Mazda was wearing a seat belt, but her 20-year-old male passenger was not.

The male passenger was thrown into the driver’s seat, hitting the female driver.

The Mazda’s driver was flown by helicopter to McKay Dee Hospital, and the passenger was flown to Ogden Regional Hospital, both in extremely critical condition.
