CACHE COUNTY, Utah, July 6, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Cache County Sheriff’s Office suffered the loss of one of its K-9 service dogs over the weekend.

In a news release, Sheriff Chad Jensen did not elaborate except to refer to an “unfortunate incident” that resulted in the death of Endy, one of the Sheriff’s Office law enforcement dogs.

Jensen said he asked the Northern Utah Critical Incident Task Force to conduct an independent investigation of the incident, and that investigation is underway. An internal investigation also is being conducted to review CCSO policy and procedures.

The Cache County Attorney’s Office is handling any questions regarding the independent investigation.

The release stated, “The loss of Endy leaves a hole within the Sheriff’s Office as well as our valley law enforcement family, and a caring community.”

Jensen expressed appreciation for the support the CCSO has received regarding Endy’s passing.

Gephardt Daily will provide more information on this story as it becomes available.
