OGDEN, Utah, May 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people were transported to the hospital after an Ogden structure fire Tuesday.

Dispatch received a call at 1:18 p.m., according to a tweet from the Ogden Fire Department. Seventeen firefighters from the Ogden and Roy fire departments responded to the scene, the Towne Apartments at 2638 Adams Ave.

A second-floor apartment burned, and five other apartments sustained smoke damage, Deputy Chief Eric Bauman, Ogden Fire Department, told Gephardt Daily. The Towne Apartments has 18 units.

The condition of the two injured people is unknown.

The Red Cross was on scene assisting the displaced occupants.

Resources at the scene included three ladder trucks, one engine, one paramedic unit and the battalion chief.

The fire was basically under control within 11 minutes, according to a subsequent OFD tweet. Firefighters remained at the scene to ensure there were no sparks or isolated areas of flames that could allow the fire to flame up again. Investigators also were on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.

“The fire is out,” a tweet said. “Crews remain on scene performing salvage and overhaul.”

Preliminary damage is estimated $120,000.
