SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 15, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people suspected of robbing a man at gunpoint are in custody after leading police in a pursuit early Saturday.

Sgt. Gordon Worsencroft, of the Salt Lake City Police Department, said police were notified of a personal robbery with a gun, and were told the suspects, a man and a woman, were driving a red truck.

A detective located the truck in downtown Salt Lake City and pulled it over on the freeway, but the vehicle fled and led officers into West Valley City, where the pursuit was terminated.

“He ditched out in one of the neighborhoods,” Worsencroft said.

Unified and West Valley City police assisted in finding the abandoned vehicle.

The male and female suspects also were found and arrested, and the gun was recovered. Worsencroft said the suspects will be charged with robbery and fleeing, and may face several other charges as well.

The personal robbery of the male victim took place shortly after midnight, in the same time frame as the robbery of a 7-Eleven in South Jordan, but Worsencroft said the incidents are not related.

He added that all of the agencies and officers who assisted worked well together in bringing this incident to a resolution without anyone being injured.
