20-year-old skier from Salt Lake City dead after hitting tree at Park City Mountain

PARK CITY, Utah, Jan. 30, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 20-year-old skier from Salt Lake City is dead after hitting a tree on an advanced trail at Park City Mountain Resort.

Officials received a 911 call regarding an injured skier at about 1:45 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from Summit County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Andrew Wright.

The man had been skiing on an advanced trail on the Canyons Village base side of the mountain.

After emergency medical care and life saving efforts were performed, the man was pronounced deceased, the news release said.

Summit County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident.

The identity of the man will not be released, police said, and extended family members
are being notified of the tragedy.

“The entire team at the Summit County Sheriff’s Offices expresses their deepest condolences to the family of the decedent,” the news release concluded.
