SALINA, Utah, April 14, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 6-year-old boy from Salina who died Monday after he was hit by a teen riding a motorcycle has been identified.

Tucker Sorensen was critically injured in the crash, and passed away due to serious head trauma. A GoFundMe page set up Tuesday to benefit Tucker had raised $3,075 by Thursday afternoon.

Salina police officer Greg Harwood said the accident happened just after 6 p.m. when two 14-year-old boys were riding their motorcycles in the area of 400 South 300 East, and Tucker suddenly stepped in front of them.

Not seeing the child, one of the two teens struck the boy.

Witnesses jumped in to help Tucker by performing CPR until emergency crews arrived. Sevier County EMS transported him to the Sevier Valley Hospital and he was later transferred by Life Flight to Primary Children’s Medical Center.

Community members have begun a memorial at the site of the incident in honor of Tucker.

The GoFundMe page, started by family friend Melissa Stout, says: “Sadly Tucker was hit by a motorcycle on Monday. He died on impact. They are keeping him alive on machines at the hospital while finding little people in need of his organs.

“There are no words to describe the family’s pain, heartbreak or sadness. He was such a cute little boy, full of life and energy.

“Tucker is the grandson of my dear neighbor and friend. Tucker loves his grandparents and they adore him and his sisters. Their family would visit often. My kids played with Tucker and his sisters. We love this family.

“When tragedy happens you wonder how you can help, you put yourself in their shoes. My heart is heavy and sad.

“The best thing I thought of it to help lighten the financial load for his family. They have enough to think about. So let’s give. ALL money will go to his family to help with medical and funeral expenses.”

People can also donate at Zions and Mountain America Banks.

The Salina City Police are investigating the accident with the assistance of the Utah Highway Patrol and the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office.

  1. Well I wouldn’t exactly say that he “ran out in front of the motorcycle”. The media needs to get their facts straight! I will save the details for the investigators to release, as they are beyond tragic!

  2. I am so sorry for your loss. I know right now any words I type won’t even begin to help you with the grief of your son. I can say this; though we have never met. Prayers are being said for you, his family, extended family and friends. I hope that some how you can find comfort in knowing your being thought of not just today but tomorrow and everyday that follows. All our love, The Gomez Family
