EVANSTON, Wyoming, May 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A small plane bound for Bountiful crashed on I-80 near Evanston Thursday evening while attempting to make an emergency landing, according to officials.

A Facebook post from Uinta County Fire and Ambulance said EMS crews responded to a single-engine plane crash at milepost 7 shortly before 6 p.m.

The pilot, the only occupant of the plane, was not injured, the Facebook post said.

According to Federal Aviation Administration officials, the Experimental BF9-2 airplane’s engine stalled for an unknown reason. The pilot attempted to land the plane, but it clipped a semi truck and flipped over.

The FAA said the airplane was traveling from Longmont, Colorado to Bountiful.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
