SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – October 5, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Following record-breaking participation in primary voting this summer, ballots for the upcoming general election in Salt Lake City are to be mailed this week to all registered voters.

Over 40 percent of registered voters cast votes in the August election, far exceeding historical turnout for a Salt Lake City municipal primary, officials said.

“I believe that residents will again find that vote-by-mail elections are convenient, cost-free and confidential,” said Salt Lake City Recorder Cindi Mansell. “It is important to note that mailed ballots must be postmarked by November 2.”

Every registered voter will be mailed a ballot 28 days before the November 3 general election. Ballots can be mailed back in the postage-paid envelope provided or dropped off on or before Election Day at one of the four vote centers (listed below) and at drop-off locations at the Salt Lake County Government Complex or the Salt Lake City & County Building.

Although traditional polling locations will not be available this year, prospective voters can go to one of the four Vote Centers listed below if they need assistance, did not receive a ballot or would prefer to cast their ballot in person:

  • River’s Bend Northwest Senior Center, 1300 West 300 North
  • Sorenson Multicultural Center, 855 West California Ave. (1300 South)
  • Trolley Square, 600 South 700 East
  • First Congregational Church, 2150 S. Foothill Drive (2755 East)

In-office voting is also available at the Salt Lake County Complex from October 5-30, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Residents can register to vote online at vote.utah.gov. To find out whether or not you are registered to vote or if you have moved and need to update your address, go to the Salt Lake County website at slco.org/clerk/elections or call 385.468.7400.
