Beaver, Soldier Hollow fires in Wasatch County still active

WASATCH COUNTY,  Utah, June 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Beaver Fire, at Strawberry Reservoir, was threatening six homes late Saturday, and five residents were being escorted out of the area, according to a Facebook post by Wasatch County Fire.

Crews were working on defensible space to protect the homes, the post stated, and a helicopter was on scene earlier Saturday evening.

At about 9 p.m., Wasatch Fire said 25 to 30 acres were involved, with zero containment. Several outbuildings had burned. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Regarding the Soldier Hollow Fire, the post stated that 60 acres were involved, with 75 percent containment.

“Crew are off the hill for the night,” it said, adding that hand crews will begin again in the morning.
