KEARNS, Utah, July 2, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A bizarre sight in Kearns Saturday afternoon after boat caught fire in the owner’s driveway.

Matthew McFarland, spokesperson for Unified Fire, confirmed one of their units responded to the homeĀ atĀ 4991 W. Moon Flower Circle where the boat began burning just after 6 p.m.

“A man was trying to start his boat that was up on a boat trailer in the driveway of his home when they realized the boat had caught fire,” McFarland said. “The owner was quick to realize how close he was to his home and was able to pull it out to the middle of the road and away from any structures.”

McFarland said he was told the witnesses heard a couple of small explosions just prior to the fire.

The fire was extinguished fairly quickly and no one was injured. The exact cause of the fire was not known nor was there an estimate on damages.
