IRON COUNTY, Utah, Dec. 13, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Deputies have identified the missing 70-year-old man whose body was found last week in Iron County.

According to a Iron County Sheriff Lt. Del Schlosser, deputies were asked by the family of Lawrence E. Sullivan, 75, a hunter from California, to perform a welfare check near Buckskin Road off SR 20 as they had been unable to reach him.

When officers arrived on Saturday, deputies located a campsite where Sullivan had told his family he would be. A search of the immediate area failed to locate him, and his family made the decision to wait a day to see if they heard back from him.

Deputies returned Sunday at the family’s request. Iron County Search and Rescue teams looked for him until 2 a.m. Monday.

Searchers returned to the area at 8 a.m. and located Sullivan’s body approximately one mile from his camp.

According to Lt. Schlosser, the death is not considered suspicious and no foul play is suspected. The body was sent to the state Medical Examiner’s office to determine a cause of death.
