FARMINGTON, Utah, Jan. 31, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials on Wednesday confirmed that a body recovered on Jan. 26 in Farmington’s Shepard Canyon is that of a local woman missing for more than three months.

On Wednesday, officials announced an autopsy concluded the deceased was Jeanna Reid, 26, who had not been seen since early October.

“Today, January 31st, the Office of the State Medical Examiner was able to positively identify the remains recovered on Friday as that of Jeanne Reid,” said a statement released by the Farmington Police Department.

“There are no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. In regards to the cause and manner of death, we are waiting for further results from the Medical Examiner’s Office.

“The Farmington Police Department would like to thank all those involved in the resolution of this tragic case. We extend our condolences to Jeanna’s family at this time and hope they can now move forward and find closure.”

A Jan. 26 message on the Find Jeanne Reid Facebook page, which stated the body believed to be Reid’s had been found, said the location of the remains suggested Reid had been hiking in rocky terrain when she fell into a river.

Hundreds of comments left on the page, which had more than 1,100 followers, offered condolences to the family. Also sprinkled in were happy memories of Reid, who was remembered for her musical talents and for gestures of friendship that had touched others throughout her life.

The family’s post promised funeral arrangements would be announced, and thanked the hunters who found the young woman.

“We are at peace with the knowledge that Jeanna is safely home with her Father in Heaven.”
