Update: 56-year-old man killed in South Salt Lake house fire identified

SOUTH SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 12, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — South Salt Lake police have released the identity of a man who died in house fireĀ on April 1.

SSLPD spokesman Gary Keller said Wednesday that the fire at 300 E. 2400 South claimed the life of Dan A. Villiard, 56.

South Salt Lake Deputy Fire Chief Terry Addison told Gephardt Daily firefighters were first called to the scene at about 9:30 a.m.

When first responders arrived they found the two-story home engulfed in flames. They were told a man was trapped inside the residence, but were unable to gain entry into the home. Three other residents, including the victim’s spouse, managed to escape uninjured.

Once the flames were under control, firefighters discovered the deceased victim in the same room where the fire broke out.

The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
