WASHINGTON D.C. – October 8, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Republican Kevin McCarthy, the leading candidate for Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, dropped out of the race Thursday morning telling fellow GOP members “I am not the one at this time.”

That leaves Utah Republican Jason Chaffetz and Florida Congressman Daniel Webster still in the race for the speaker’s job currently held by Representative John Boehner.

Political insiders watching the race did not think this makes Chaffetz quest for the job any easier but there will be an indefinite pause in the process.

For now, the election to choose the next top leader in the House chamber has been postponed and “chaos” reportedly reigns inside the Republican Caucus.
