BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 57-year-old Brigham City man died Monday afternoon while on a snowmobiling outing east of Perry Reservoir near the Weber-Box Elder county line.

According to Box Elder County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dale Ward, a call came in at about 1 p.m., reporting that a man was down while snowmobiling. He wasn’t breathing, and the caller had started CPR.

Sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical personnel responded, along with Box Elder Search and Rescue.

It was determined that the snowmobilers were in the back country. The fallen man, identified as Kent Brian Tanner, didn’t respond to CPR and died before emergency crews could reach him.

“They were in a fairly remote area and the snow was such that the Search and Rescue could not get some of the equipment into the area,” according to Ward.

When personnel did arrive on scene, an accurate location and landing zone was established, and LifeFlight was summoned to assist in bringing Tanner out. He apparently had died of a heart attack.

The exact cause of death will be confirmed by the Utah State Medical Examiner.
