Car Dealership Employee Finds Stolen Car Through Social Media
SANDY, UTAH – APRIL 8, 2015 (GEPHARDT DAILY) A National Auto Plaza employee noticed something a little suspicious about an Instagram photo that had been sent to him by a friend. “The car the man was sitting on, a 2015 Lexus, looked a lot like a car that had recently been stolen from our lot,” said the employee.
He sent the photo to another friend who identified some of his followers were mutual acquaintances. “I was able to call several of those followers to get his name and then checked his Twitter account and found out he was promoting a concert in Orem on Friday night,” said the friend.
The employee decided to go to the concert to see if he could spot the car. When the concert was over he recognized the suspect and followed him to his car. While the suspect was hanging out in the parking lot with friends, the employee, fairly certain it was the right car, called the Orem City Police Department.
The police were able to verify over the phone that the license plate on the car did not belong to the Lexus. Once they arrived and were able to question the suspect, Nathaneal Wade Packer,19, who goes by the name Leomusic on social media, he was arrested for unlawful possession of alcohol, possession or use of a controlled substance, and theft of a vehicle.
Inside the Lexus were allegedly several other keys belonging to other vehicles from various dealerships including a copy of a key to a car that belongs to the employee’s boss.
Packer is being held at the Utah County Jail on the new charges as well as outstanding warrants for failure to appear, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is currently set at $10,000.
