SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 27, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect in the Friday, Oct. 21, fatal shooting of a man in a Redwood Road car wash.

SLCPD said in a news release that the victim, Christian Gutierrez-Marquez, 33, was washing his car at the car wash at 1075 S. Redwood Road at 10:15 p.m. An altercation took place between the victim and an unknown man, and the man shot Gutierrez-Marquez to death.

Gutierrez-Marquez’s car then was stolen, and was found five hours later, burning, at 1532 West High Ave., not far from the car wash site.

Detectives are releasing surveillance photos hoping to garner tips in this case.

The suspect vehicle appears to be a white, four-door vehicle, possibly driven by a Caucasian woman. The white vehicle may have been stolen prior to the homicide. The male suspect may have been wearing a gray or light-colored hoodie, possible athletic or jogging pants, and shoes with reflective material. He may be Hispanic. He may have been wet from the altercation in the car wash.

SLCPD asks anyone who may know the whereabouts of the suspect to call 801-799-3000. Anonymous tips may be sent by text to 274637. Please start the text with TIPSLCPD, which routes it to the police department. Then include any relevant information. Reference: case #16-197985.
