CEDAR CITY, Utah, Oct. 19, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Cedar City man has been charged with aggravated assault after a female acquaintance said he used a piece of broken glass to carve a profane word into the skin of her stomach.

The victim said that a few weeks ago, a person known to her as Brandon Wall attacked her, pushed her to the ground, and got on top of her.

The suspect then cut the deragatory word into her stomach, she said.

The victim said Wall had been a good friend to her in the past, and had at one time been a caretaker for her medical needs.

“She stated that she is 100 percent certain that Brandon was the person that attacked her,” the probable cause statement said. “She clearly saw his face and heard his voice as he spoke to her. When she saw his face, he was sitting on top of her and was therefore very close to her.”

Officers saw scarring on her stomach that was consistent with her story, the statement said.

Officers responding to a different call were told by people there that Wall had been in the victim’s home and had threatened them. Wall was located a short time later, on Tuesday morning, and booked into jail.

“He denied having made any threats to the victim and he further denied any involvement in the attack that left her with this scar on her stomach,” the probable cause statement says.

“Based on victim’s statements and the fact that she is completely certain that Brandon was her attacker, along with the actual scar on her stomach, Brandon was placed under arrest. He has been charged with one count of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.”

Bail was set at $5,000 cash only.
