CEDAR CITY, Utah, Sept. 25, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two men who fled a traffic stop in Cedar City Sunday night and were wanted for drug trafficking violations have been taken into custody.

One suspect was located by police early Monday morning; the other just a couple of hours later.

The two Hispanic men were stopped at 11:10 p.m. for speeding on Interstate 15 near milepost 60 northbound, according to a news release from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.

The deputy who stopped them suspected drugs in the car and a K-9 unit was brought to the scene to investigate.

When asked to exit the vehicle, both subjects fled on foot, the news release said.

One suspect is believed to be Roberto Gallardo Lerenzo, 29, and the other is believed to be Manuel Romero Gallardo, 39, police said.

The ICSO sent out a reverse 911 call to warn residents of northern Cedar City to lock their doors. Cedar City Police Department also commented on Facebook that schools were aware of the situation.
