SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 25, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews battled a two-alarm fire in a three-story Salt Lake City apartment complex in the early hours of Wednesday morning, officials said.

Public information officer for Salt Lake City Fire Department Audra Sorensen told Gephardt Daily officials were called at approximately 2:40 a.m. to the Grenoble Apartments at 140 S. 800 East.

The apartment building had fire visible from the outside, Sorsensen said, and it appeared the blaze started on the exterior of the building, possibly on a patio.

She said approximately 30 people were evacuated from the building and crews were able to knock down the fire in about ten minutes.

One unit was damaged and the female that lives there is displaced and being assisted by Red Cross, Sorensen said. No one was injured in the course of the incident.

Investigators worked through the night to determine the cause of the fire.

Sorensen said it’s too early at this time to estimate the exact extent of the damages.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
