SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah, July 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Crews have contained a brush fire on Lake Mountain in Saratoga Springs Thursday night.

A tweet from Eagle Mountain City at 6 p.m. said the brush fire is in the area of Sunrise Drive, west of Redwood Road.

A follow-up tweet from Saratoga Springs City said the fire is above the Fox Hollow neighborhood.

Saratoga Springs Fire Chief Jess Campbell said in a tweet multiple agencies responded to the scene with a dozen brush units and crews, plus a helicopter. Thirty to 50 acres have burned, the tweet said.

Campbell said air support dropped retardant to the west of the fire to prevent it from spreading further. By 7 p.m., crews surrounded the fire with an estimate of 60 percent containment so long as conditions don’t change, a follow-up tweet said.

At 8 p.m., Saratoga Springs City tweeted the fire is no longer spreading and crews are working to clean up hotspots and make sure it doesn’t flare up again.

Officials have not yet said what caused the fire.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
